- William J. Christy - President and Chief Executive Officer
- Mr. Christy is President and CEO and a board member of SpineMatrix. Mr. Christy is a veteran of several successful startup companies across the medical device industry that he has guided from early stage through commercial launch, global distribution and successful exit, creating exceptional value for all stakeholders. He has a strong and proven background as an operating executive, most recently serving as CEO of AOI Medical, a device company focused on the development and commercialization of innovative orthopaedic medical devices for the spine and trauma markets. Mr. Christy has been involved with several companies as founder, CEO and Executive Director, including Ortheon Medical LLC, where as President and CEO he led the company in its development and commercialization of a new technology for the repair of tendons in the body; ESD Medical LLC, a gynecology tubal ligation product company which he successfully founded, capitalized and transacted to US Surgical Corporation; and Synergistic Medical Technologies Inc., a laparoscopic product company that he founded, grew internationally and transacted to Ethicon Endo-Surgery (a Johnson & Johnson company). Mr. Christy is also a co-founder and former Regional Sales Director of Ethicon Endo-Surgery. Mr. Christy received his B.S./B.A. from the University of Central Florida and has an MBA from Rollins College Crummer Graduate School of Business.
- Tim Biro - Chief Technology Officer
- Mr. Biro is Chief Technology Officer of SpineMatrix and is a founder and board member of the company. Mr. Biro's operating experience includes several roles in operations management, quality control and manufacturing with Merck & Company and in cancer research with Hershey Medical Center. Mr. Biro also has an extensive background in the medical device and life science industries, having previously served as the Managing Partner of the Ohio Innovation Fund and a general partner of Reservoir Venture Partners. He has 18 years of venture capital experience in early-stage technology investing and has served as CEO for four early-stage portfolio companies. Mr. Biro holds bachelor degrees in Microbiology and Pharmacy from Penn State University and Temple University, as well as an MBA from The Wharton School of Business.
- Mark S. Rangell – Chief Operating Officer
- Mr. Rangell has a long term track record of growing and managing healthcare and information technology companies, with experience spanning all phases of business maturity from start-up operations through established business units. Prior to joining SpineMatrix, Mr. Rangell was the CEO of Cachet Solutions, LLC, developer of a Web-based receivables management solution for acceleration of working capital, commercialized for sale as a private label service of major commercial banks across the U.S. Mr. Rangell was also the Executive Vice President and co-founder of Quovadx, Inc., a leading provider of software and services for enterprise application integration, medical management, claims processing, quality management and analytics to worldwide customers across the healthcare continuum. Mr. Rangell has also held senior positions in marketing and product management with leading firms in the healthcare information technology and pharmaceutical industries, including IBM, Medical Economics/Micromedex (Thomson Reuters), Ciba-Geigy (Novartis) and American Cyanamid (Pfizer). Mr. Rangell received his B.S. degree in Computer Applications and Information Systems from New York University and his M.S. degree in Marketing and Corporate Strategy from the MIT Sloan School of Management.
- Scott D. Wampler - Vice President of R&D and Operations
- Mr. Wampler has an extensive background in the medical device industry and in the formation and management of early stage companies. Prior to joining SpineMatrix, Mr. Wampler served as founder and CEO of NOVUS Communication Technologies, Inc., a high tech capital equipment company specializing in network digital advertising systems and as CEO of NOVUS Partners LLC, a patent holding company owned by a consortium of large public advertising companies. He has also held several executive positions in engineering, advanced concepts and technologies and new business development with Ethicon Endo-Surgery (a Johnson & Johnson company). Mr. Wampler also serves as a Professor of BioMedical Engineering in the Medical Device Innovation and Entrepreneurship Program at the University of Cincinnati. Mr. Wampler received his B.S. degree in Physics from the University of Cincinnati.
